There you'll find a castle , several defensive towers, and a majestic 11th-century keep. Below the medieval town of Sainte-Suzanne lies the Mills Walk , a bucolic one-hour stroll along the Erve River where you can admire the milling heritage of the Mayenne region.

Art & Prehistory!

In the Erve Valley lie two villages classified as "Petite Cité de Caractère®" (Small Town of Character) , Saulges and Saint-Pierre-sur-Erve. Near the village of Saulges, nestled in a wooded canyon, are 22 caves, two of which can be visited with a guide: the Margot Cave and the Rochefort Cave . It is also in the Saulges Cave Valley that you'll find the only decorated caves north of the Loire River . The Prehistory Museum allows you to explore this cave virtually using a 3D digital experience.

Near Saulges, the village of Saint-Pierre-sur-Erve, also known as "Saint-Pierre-sur-Rêve" (or "Dream"), is another must-see in the Coëvrons region! Come and admire the works of art , hidden here and there, as you stroll through this charming little village . A special feature of this village is its community-run bistro , where you can discover "La Mayennaise" beer, brewed locally by the "L'Eveilleuse" brewery.
