RECONNECT WITH NATURE
Some of the things you're looking for: breathing in the great outdoors, smelling the undergrowth, doing some activity and reconnecting with nature all at the same time?
On the hills of Sainte-Suzanne - Les Coëvrons, there are around 40 hiking trails to follow to reconnect your body and mind!
On horseback, on foot, in the saddle of your bike, you'll be amazed at the diversity of the landscapes and heritage. In this corner of the Valleys of the Mayenne, you will switch between hollow ways and small hills to climb, lots of pretty paths ... and a bit of effort required to satisfy the sportier among you!
Some 40 itineraries are marked out and appear on detailed hiking itinerary sheets, all available online here or at information points; GPX trackpoints are also downloadable and GPS devices can be rented to you. How convenient is that?!
For a family walk, follow the Promenade des Moulins in Sainte-Suzanne beneath the medieval town. More experienced walkers can hike in the footsteps of the pilgrims of the chemin montais near Montaigu in Hambers, with a very spiritual and hilly route.
Keen horse riders will love all that the Mayenne has to offer them! Here, you can criss-cross the marked routes at a walk or a gallop. As you enjoy the exhilarating sensations, your beloved animal will be able to trample the humus of the forest of Charnie or wade through the water of the small streams. Three large loops allow you to organise a 100% equestrian stay, stopping over in well-equipped paddocks and at accommodation that can welcome your horse.
Sporting version? Climb into your saddle and enjoy the marked mountain bike routes! as a bit of training for the higher summits, you'll find plenty to strengthen your calves around the Bois du Tay in Hambers, and Mont Rochard and you can enjoy the freshness of the rivers below.
At the Gué de Selle hostel in Mézangers, sportier types are welcomed with an accommodation package dedicated to their favourite activity.
For a gentle version, rent an electric bike at the Tourist Office and enjoy the small roads around the villages. Nearby, join the Vélo francette route that follows a traffic-free cycle path along the old towpath of the river Mayenne. A route that crosses the department from north to south.
WALKING TOGETHER ALONG THE PATHWAYS!
Discover the countryside in a convivial way on walks organised by the region's associations, open to everyone. To discover the small fauna of the trails, the wild flora and the banks of the river in a different way...the tourist office has linked up with Mayenne Nature Environment and the ethnobotanist Marie Girard, for visits that will fine-tune the observation skills of young and old explorers alike!
