Evidence of the richness of the local heritage, the Pays d’art et d’histoire label has been attributed to the territory of Coëvrons-Mayenne since 2005. To promote this heritage of more than 30,000 years, several projects and facilities have been established: Publications about local sites of interest, activities led by Lecturer-guides, permanent and temporary exhibitions at the Centre d'Interprétation de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine (CIAP), located in the castle of Sainte-Suzanne. THE PAYS D'ART ET D'HISTOIRE LABEL
Awarded in 2005 by the Ministry of Culture and Communication to the Coëvrons-Mayenne territory, the label recognises the local associations that study, value and bring to life their heritage. Come and enjoy the activities offered by heritage coordinators and certified tour guides! Their expertise is guaranteed by the region of Coëvrons-Mayenne being part of a network of 150 cities and regions all meeting the same quality standards!
Since obtaining the label, the Pays d'Art et d'Histoire has carried out numerous actions with the support of the Regional Directorate for Cultural Affairs of the Pays de la Loire aimed at everyone.
Laissez-vous conter... les missions du PAH
Discover a quality heritage ... with quality representatives! These are the buzz words of the Pays d'Art et d'Histoire (PAH) of Mayenne-Coëvrons!
The PAH offers a varied programme of events throughout the year: discovery-visits, heritage walks, visits suitable for people with disabilities, but much more besides! It links up with the major events of the Coëvrons showcasing its heritage: Festival of Sacred Arts, cinema and heritage evenings and much more.
The PAH highlights local heritage with its publications: the "Laissez-vous conter" collection for adult groups and the "Raconte-moi" collection for young audiences.
Not to mention the visits!Individuals, groups of adults and schoolchildren, take part in a guided tour or a heritage discovery activity with teaching materials adapted to the different audiences. Heritage comes alive and we learn when we're having fun! The guides are available to all so that anyone can be immersed in the history of the places and the local culture.
THE CIAP
The CIAP of the region of Coëvrons-Mayennet is located in the castle of Guillaume Fouquet de la Varenne, Controller General of the Posts of Henry IV. The CIAP? What is it?
It's the Centre d'Interprétation de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine [Centre for the Interpretation of Architecture and Heritage], which presents the many facets of local heritage and more broadly of the entire department of Mayenne.
It's a place for information, meetings and education with the CIAP putting on temporary exhibitions, thematic meetings and workshops for young audiences. What better way to get you wanting to set off and explore the heritage and history of Coëvrons!
