Who said museums were boring? At the Museum of Prehistory, learning is fun! Located in the Erve Valley, the Museum of Prehistory invites you to explore the Paleolithic and Neolithic periods through its archaeological collections.

Explore the museum with family or friends, with children or adults; the collections and scenography allow everyone to understand the evolution of the site over the millennia.

Immerse yourself in prehistory

Twenty-two caves have been identified on the site, some of which have revealed ornaments, engravings, and even paintings: the Mayenne-Sciences Cave and the Margot Cave. While the Mayenne-Sciences Cave is closed to the public to protect its paintings, the Margot Cave can be visited with a guide and will allow you to see genuine engravings created by prehistoric humans.

The museum is equipped with interactive features that will take you back more than 20 years. You can take a virtual tour of the Mayenne-Sciences cave, play an augmented reality game, and discover other immersive and fun modules.
