From Jublains to Sainte-Suzanne

Located 7 km from the "Pré-en-Pail/Saint-Sanson" greenway, with connections to the Vélofrancette and Véloscénie routes, Yublain is an ideal starting point for the cycle route.

Morning : Hop on your bikes and start the stage to the Montaigu chapel (13km)

Considered the largest and best testimony of the Gallo-Roman period in the greater West, Yublain invites you to open the great book of ancient history.
A vast territory, almost equivalent to that of Mayenne, is occupied by the Gallic people of the Diablintes.
Wandering through monuments preserved by time: remains of the monumental sanctuary, the baths, the theatre and the large fortified complex on the edge of the ancient city are offered to the gaze and curiosity of the visitor… it is an exceptional archaeological site to discover.

Picnic lunch au Montaigu With a viewpoint offering panoramic views of the Mayenne countryside… This high point, this scenic site, has a small chapel and the remains of a hermitage at its summit. Built in 1402, the site is a place of pilgrimage dedicated to Saint Michael. (The "Grand Chemin Montais," now marked by the GR®365 long-distance hiking trail).

Afternoon : Extend the step until Sainte-Suzanne, pearl of Maine (27km)

Get back on your bikes and take the path that will lead you to Evron, then let yourself be surprised by the hidden treasures of the Basilica of Our Lady of the Thorn in Évron! An architectural jewel of the Middle Ages, it combines Gothic and Romanesque styles, which gives it all its charm.

At the end of the day, set up in a bivouac tent or Fernweh cabin at Glamping in Sainte-Suzanne or in one of the accommodations in Sainte-Suzanne

Take advantage of the evening to perform the mills promenade (approximately 1 hour walk) along the Erve river.

Next, hop on your bicycles and cycle to the village of Saint-Pierre-sur-Erve (25km)

In the morningBefore resuming your cycling route, treat yourself to a unique experience: visit the valley of the Saulges caves and the only decorated cave in Western France! (2km from the town centre)

Venture into the depths, learn about prehistory and archaeology, and be amazed by the lush nature of the protected valley. The ticket also includes a visit to the Museum of Prehistory, a must-see (online reservation required)!

Lunch break or picnic at the cave site (with bread baked in a wood-fired oven) cedar bakehouse , installed in Saint-Pierre-sur-Erve the day before or bread vending machine in Place Jacques Favrot in Saulges) or lunch at the restaurant « The Cave Tavern"

The afternoon, Cycle to discover Saint-Denis-d'Anjou… (26km)

Located in the south of Mayenne, Saint-Denis-d'Anjou is a Small Town of Character® Charming! Just 45 kilometers from Angers, this dynamic town captivates with its architectural heritage and warm atmosphere.
