Come and enjoy an unforgettable cycling experience in the Coëvrons region of Mayenne. This cycle route invites you to discover a cycling itinerary that winds through heritage sites, nature, and charming villages, in the heart of a region rich in art and history.
The cycle route connects to two major national cycle routes: the Vélofrancette (Caen – La Rochelle) and the Véloscénie (Paris – Le Mont-Saint-Michel).
So, on your marks, get set, hop on your bikes! and discover our 3 charming small towns, Saulges , Saint-Pierre-sur-Erve et Sainte-Suzanne-et-Chames also classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France.
The route is marked on small, quiet roads with shared lanes.
To the north, in Grazay, take the greenway "Pré-en-Pail / Saint-Sanson/Mayenne" 2 possible variants:
1- towards the Vélofrancette (Caen – La Rochelle) by taking the greenway towards Mayenne.

2- Connection to the Vélobuissonnière® in Sablé-sur-Sarthe, 13km away
Your itinerary
Step 1: Montaigu Hill
One of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Coëvrons region. Reaching an altitude of 291m, this panoramic site boasts a small chapel and a hermitage at the summit, dedicated to Saint Michael. A great place for hiking and sunset lovers!
Step 2: Basilica of Our Lady of the Thorn
A jewel of the Middle Ages, the Basilica of Notre-Dame de l'Épine is the major building of Evronne's heritage (free access all year round).
Stage 3: Sainte-Suzanne-et-Chammes, Small town of character and Most Beautiful Villages of France
Through its medieval castle, its cobbled streets, its paper mill, its mill promenade... Sainte-Suzanne will reveal its rich historical and architectural heritage to you as you stroll.
Stage 4: Saint-Pierre-sur-Erve, a small town of character
In a bucolic setting, discover the remains of this village: the Roman pedestrian bridge, the Gô mill, the Saint-Sylvain chapel and the Saint-Pierre Romanesque church located opposite the associative bistro.
Step 5: Museum of Prehistory and Saulges Caves
Embark on a journey to the heart of Prehistory in the Erve Valley by visiting the Margot and Rochefort caves and the Prehistory Museum.
Stage 6: Saulges, Small Town of Character
This village is full of many treasures such as the Merovingian chapel of Saint-Pierre, the Oratory of Saint-Cénéré, a place of pilgrimage and the lime kiln (free access all year round)...
Step 7: Thévalles Mill
Unique in Western France! This mill, dating from 1850, boasts an exceptional mechanism on four levels. Guided tours are available from June 15 to September 20, every day except Sunday and Monday morning.
