DOLMEN DES ERVES
The oldest monument built by man in Mayenne, the Dolmen des Erves is also one of the most famous monuments in the department.
This megalithic tomb is related to the Angevin dolmens area, with the exception of a few details: the chamber cover is composed of two slabs instead of a single slab and the pillars are widely spaced from each other. Human bones of fourteen individuals were discovered, proof of the collective nature of Megalithic tombs. A deer antler pick used to dig the foundations of pillars was discovered on this occasion, as well as a decorated ceramic that could have been an incense burner. Free access.
