PAYS D'ART ET D'HISTOIRE COËVRONS-MAYENNE
The “Town or Country of Art and History” label is awarded to areas that are actively involved in preserving their identity through cultural, natural and industrial heritage.
The Coëvrons-Mayenne Country of Art and History brings together two geographical and administrative entities in the Mayenne department: the Coëvrons and Mayenne Community. It is structured around six heritage sites of regional, even national, importance, whose periods range from prehistory to the 17th century:
– The Saulges caves.
– The Gallo-Roman town of Jublains.
– The castle of Mayenne.
– The basilica of Évron.
– The castle of Sainte-Suzanne
– The castle of Lassay-les-Châteaux
To highlight and promote the heritage of the entire region, the Pays d'art et d'histoire offers discovery tours, workshops for young people, hikes, etc. These tours and activities are led by tour guides approved by the Ministry of Culture and Communication.
